A Home Needs More Than a Roof
urgent need: turn housing into a home for a new yorker.
When someone moves into NCS housing, they’re not just getting a roof over their head—they’re finally getting a home. But a home is more than just four walls. It’s the small essentials that turn a space into a place of belonging.
That’s why we need your help today.
Our Welcome Kits provide new residents with the basic household items they need to feel at home from day one—sheets and towels, pots and pans, personal care items, and more. 🛏🧼️👕🧹️🍽🪥🧴️ These simple essentials send a powerful message: You are welcome. You are safe. You are home.
Right now, we urgently need to provide kits for new residents moving in this season. Your gift today will ensure no one arrives at their new home to find it empty.
We need to raise $5,000 by March 15th for 10 new welcome kits!
Give the gift of home today.
Scroll down to see what you can provide at each giving level (a gift of any amount will help get us closer to our goal of purchasing ten new welcome kits), to get to know other donors, and to learn more about NCS.
Neighborhood Coalition for Shelter (NCS) helps New Yorkers who are struggling with homelessness, often compounded by mental illness or substance use, to achieve their highest level of independence. We were established in 1982 by faith and community leaders on Manhattan’s Upper East Side who believed that homelessness is the responsibility of the entire community. More than forty years later we are still guided by the principle that neighbors should help neighbors.
NCS provides New Yorkers who are homeless or at risk of homelessness with a home, a community, and access to the services that they need to thrive.
