LNH Residents Showcase their Talents
Louis Nine House (LNH) is home to 46 young adults who have aged out of foster care or experienced homelessness and mental illness. In addition to housing, the residents have access to supportive services including creative outlets that encourage personal and professional development through music, visual and performance art, and other forms of self-expression. Art therapy has been shown to improve self-management and communication, build self-esteem, and improve mental health.
A favorite annual LNH tradition has been Gallery Nights. Started in 2013, the event invites the community to celebrate the residents’ talents. Each year, walls and tabletops are decorated with LNH resident artwork, and guests enjoy live performances, some lighthearted, others heart-wrenching, but all deeply personal and inspiring.
Performers and artists are elated each year by the audiences’ love and support, as friends, supporters, and NCS staff members respond enthusiastically to their emotional honesty, talent, and hard work.
