It is always exciting when an NCS client excels at their passion and the entire community can cheer them on. And wow have we had that opportunity with Louis Nine House resident Juan.  

“I think I was born to love art,” Juan said. “During my time here at Louis Nine House, I have been blessed to receive so much support. LNH is not only a safe place for me to rest my head but a place where I find peace and inspiration to make my art.” 

And that art is taking him places! One of Juan’s pieces was featured in MoMA’s Mixtape exhibit, which showcased the artistic talent of participants in more than forty community-based organizations that partner with the museum’s Community and Access Programs.  

Juan also recently completed his high school equivalency diploma with the help of Elizabeth, NCS’s Options Vocational Coordinator. This achievement was a longtime goal of Juan’s. Now, he is looking to use his education to follow his next goal.  

“I’m looking to leave a legacy,” Juan shared. “I want to start a really big career in the arts.” 

Nyeima Nix, the new Arts Coordinator at Louis Nine House, has started helping Juan work toward this career. They’ve met to discuss his art style and personal projects he would like to work on, as well as programs at local museums and businesses where he can get valuable work experience. 

Everyone at NCS is proud of Juan’s achievements thus far and will root for him as he continues to pursue his passion!
